NWS Spotter WCC02 (my weather station)

This is my Weather Station server/computer setup. Dedicated 24" LCD, secondary 22" LCD and Macbook Pro 2.4ghz computer.
  • Server is a Dell P4 2.0 w/ 2GB RAM
  • running VWS, Spotter network, WeatherTAP Radar HD, StormPredator, Interwarn and others.
  • OS WMR100 Pro Wireless weather station, UV detector.
Other computers:
  • PC is a Gateway Dual Core 3.4 Ghz with 4GB RAM, DVD/DVD RAM
  • HP Linux Media server NAS with 1 TB backup storage. Linksys NAS with 500GB and 150 GB backups. (over 1.5 TB storage.)
  • Amazon S3 automatic storage backup
  • Main PC, Gateway Phenom Quad Core PC with 4 GB Ram on a Dell 27" HDTV monitor (not pictured.) & Blu-Ray.
  • Toshiba Quad Core 18.4" LAPTOP (not pictured) with hand gestures.
  • Apple MacBook Pro 15" (2.4ghz) 4GB ram with USB soundsticks.
  • HP 2200DN printer
  • HP 4550 Color Laser
  • Brother MFC scanner, copier, fax (color)
  • Sony Photo printer
  • Dual radio scanners (portable and base.)
  • Nikon D60 Digital SLR, Canon Digital camera, 2 other digital cameras

Heavy rains soak the area..

...sorta unexpected rains soaked the area...Northern Frederick Co. Va was under a Flash Flood Warning due to flooding on Rt9 in WV. I've measured well over 1.00" of rain thus far since 4pm. Expect more rain tomorrow and possibly on and off rain all week from what I can tell...stay tuned to this blog and follow MyWinchester.org on Twitter!

High Wind Watch CANCELED!

...The high wind watch for the area West of the Blue Ridge Mountains have been canceled becaused the forecast winds will be under the criteria for a Watch.

...However, winds will be up to 40mph with rain later this evening.

..HIGH WIND WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH LATETHURSDAY NIGHT...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED AHIGH WIND WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNINGTHROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT FOR COUNTIES ALONG AND WEST OF THE BLUE RIDGE.

...A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INLAND FROM THE CAROLINACOAST AS HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS OVER NEW ENGLAND. THE MID ATLANTICWILL BE LOCATED IN A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT BETWEEN THE TWOSYSTEMS...WHICH WILL RESULT IN SUSTAINED EASTERLY UPSLOPE WINDSOF 40 MPH WITH BRIEF GUSTS TO 60 MPH...MAINLY ACROSS THE HIGHERELEVATIONS THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A HAZARDOUSHIGH WIND EVENT. Highs today in the 90s...high humidity too! Could this be the last really hot hot day?

Rest of the week looks as if it will be in the high 70s...with lows in the 50s and possibly the 40s!!

Rain from Hanna

Well, East of the Blue Ridge Mountains, I received 0.97" of rain from the tropical storm...However, Over the mountains, rain ranged from 4" to 6+" in Fairfax and Loudoun County.... Very interesting!

Hanna to swing east of the Valley...

...that's good news! Looks as if the current track has Hanna swinging over towards DC and the coast with just portions of the track cone over the Valley. The track can still change however.

Still, look for heavy rain and winds to come Friday/Saturday. But it doesn't look as bad as before!
